D Rae (Civil Rights Advocate)

By any means necessary, you know she’s going to get her point across. Speaking on racism- the physical and mental abuse of women and black people. Touching on sexism, ageism and that on going debate of shadeism. She ain’t the sistah you wanna be messin with, but the one who got your back when you’re being messed with.

Letter to the Black Man!

Alleviating the Double Standard

You don't see me as I see you though I am the female essence of you.
When you look at me do you see my capabilities?
Or do you only see the supple round brown of my breasts and booty.
Let me tell you this is not all there is to me.
I have ambition, drive and pride just like you.
A heart, a mind and voice to be expressed and respected like you.
So why must I cry, cook and clean like a slave for you?

I try to better myself and you take that as a strike against your male pride.
When it's really not about you!
It is first and foremost for me, then for US so we can provide fully,
Without fear of financial stability for our future and our children to be.

Do you hear the words that are coming out of my mouth?
Do you have the ability to open your mind and your heart?
To a woman who's not looking for help to stand.
But a partner to take a stand. And believe...
Believe in my ability to give as much as I take,
And not feel emasculated by how much I make
Characterized and dismissed without even a chance to find love.

See sisters are brought up to be strong. To love and respect the black man
Whether he be Father, Brother or Son. Love him unconditionally!
Though this love is distorted due to the inability
To give something that you have never received, something you can't conceive of.
Sisters became angry for being stepped on, hit on, crapped on and came on too!
So now you complain that we have attitudes.
We got tired of being everything to everyone yet disrespected at every turn.
So she did what she had to do.

She turned to her left and found sisters to embrace her.
And to her right the White, Asian and Spanish men worshipped her.
But still something wasn't right.
She was disowned by her "brothers and sisters" for selling out
She found love but it wasn't without sacrifice.

When will it all be over when will my time be served?
When will eyes open to see and give her the appreciation she deserves?
You expected her to wait until you had done your dirt and ready to settle down
But what about her needs is she not a human being!
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
When you return the love that is given to you, you will see the benefits of TRUTH
