0. Is this a Player Character (your character) or a Non-Player Character run by you?
Bailey is a player character. Her companions Rimmer, Harlan, and Alti are NPCs.
1. What does your character look like? Your companions?
Bailey is female of average build, about 56, with reddish brown shoulder-length hair and brown eyes. She usually dresses in combinations of light and dark colors.
Rimmer looks like (you guessed it) Arnold Rimmer from Red Dwarf. He favors military- style clothing.
Harlan has brown hair with a fair amount of gray in it. He favors jeans and t-shirts or flannel shirts. Looks kind of like Mickey from The Equalizer (funny thing that).
Alti is about 6'1, with golden-brown hair and big brown eyes. He looks like a
20-something Colin Mochrie.
2. What is your characters actual age and age of appearance? Your companions?
Bailey is somewhere over a thousand years oldshes in her fifth incarnationbut in Earth terms, she looks like shes in her late twenties. She recently regenerated.
Rimmer is, at the most, a few years old (see Question 3). He looks about 30.
Harlan is 71 years old. His physical appearance is much younger40ish. (Again, see Question 3.)
Alti is somewhere between 4 and 5 years old. In appearance, he could be anywhere from late twenties to somewhere in his thirties. (Yes, see Question 3.)
3. What is your characters species and universe of origin?
Bailey is a Time Lord. Her universe of origin is basically a Star Trek alternate, with elements of other timestreams thrown in things that can be considered canonical with Trek (for instance, The Man from Uncle) and things that seem to fit the Trek universes mythology. Very little is taken from the Doctor Who universe, other than her home planet of Gallifrey, the Celestial Intervention Agency, and of course the Time Lords.
Rimmer is from the Red Dwarf universe, but hes not actually Arnold Rimmer. Hes the personality of Baileys TARDIS computer. So how did the computer get Rimmers personality? While Baileys previous incarnation was on assignment in the RD universe, her TARDIS was docked with the Dwarf. The TARDIS computer and Holly (the RDs computer) had an electronic conversation and her computer copied Hollys personality files, along with the personality on the hologram disk he was running at the time Rimmers. The Holly personality was unstable, even on the Dwarf, and it was beginning to degrade, so the TARDIS computer switched over to Rimmers as a backup. When Bailey returns to Gallifrey in Green Grow the Rushes, Rimmer has an android body constructed (that looks like the real Rimmer) so that he can move about freely. His personality and higher logic functions can be stored either in this android body or in the main TARDIS computer. However, Rimmer's personality and his body are currently dormant, due to the events in the Lexx universe that resulted in him being split into three separate components. Until Dr. Soong can figure out how to put them back together, each component will need to remain deactivated.
Harlan is Harlan Williams, from the Golden Years universe. Golden Years was a miniseries written by Stephen King and was televised in the early 1990s. Harlan Williams is human. The Harlan in these stories is from the telecast version with the original ending, not the ending that is on the video release of the show.
Alti is from a small island on Earth called Isla Sorna, in Bailey's home universe. He may be human now, but he was born a velociraptor -- he was unlucky enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and would have died from his injuries if it hadn't been for Bailey. Afterwards, he (unfortunately) indulged his curiosity and followed her back to her malfunctioning TARDIS, which misread his brainwaves and turned him into a human.
4. What is the name of your characters ship or vehicle?
Her ship is a Type 89 TARDIS. It doesnt have a name, but she sometimes makes up a temporary name based on what it looks like (e.g. the Pink Giraffe) much to Rimmers annoyance.
5. Does your character have any particular colors associated with him/her? How about companions?
Not really. Bailey favors black and white, but will wear combinations of dark and light.
Alti likes tacky Hawaiian shirts...the tackier, the better.
6. List some adjectives that describe your characters personality. Likewise for companions.
Bailey: fun-loving, enthusiastic, honorable Rimmer: smarmy, pompous, tightassed, pretentious Harlan: man-on-the-street, easygoing, perplexed (sometimes) Alti: curious (too damn curious for his own good!), excitable, playful
7. What is your character good at? Bad at? What particular areas of expertise? What about companions?
Bailey is good at blowing things up, shooting things, and mayhem in general. She can usually find her way around rules and standard procedure, or at least make them work to her advantage. She plays the guitar very well. Shes not so good at non-interventionif she sees something that she thinks isnt right, shell try to influence the situation in some way. In cases like that, where she feels that she knows best, she will almost certainly interfere.
Rimmer is good at navigating the TARDIS (he does have a computer brain, after all). Hes also quite good at hacking into other computers and systems you just dont want to see how he interfaces with them. Hes good at keeping Bailey out of danger; at least he would be, if shed listen to his advice more often. Hes not very good at configuring the outer form of the TARDIS to blend in with its surroundings once the ship materializeshe says theres something wrong with the chameleon circuit. And even though his data banks contain an incredible amount of knowledge from all over the universe, it isnt always easy for him to sift through it all and access what he needs.
Harlan isnt particularly good or bad at anything. Hes very average. He led a rather undistinguished life up until he was accidentally exposed to the materials used in the experiments with time control (in the Golden Years series). However, he was a good husband, father, and grandfather, and has the wisdom of his many years of experience. And hes really good at annoying Rimmer. Hes somewhat bewildered by all the technology and strange things and people hes been exposed to since hes joined up with Bailey. He can go with the flow, but truly adapting isnt his strong point.
Alti used to be really good at running, dodging, jumping, and disemboweling things (back when he had claws on his feet). He's still good at everything except that last bit. He's still learning how to be human, and he's learning well, but he still has a long way to go.
8. What special magical/metapsychic/surly/etc. powers does your character have? Your companions?
Bailey is mildly telepathic, but it usually requires prolonged and repeated physical contact for this skill to manifest. All Time Lords from her universe of origin have this ability.
Rimmer, as the TARDIS computer, has a low-level link with the TARDIS pilotBailey. Not quite telepathic, not quite empathic, this link is mostly to prevent things like the pilot crossing his or her own timeline. This link is below the pilots conscious mind the pilot cant telepathically give the ship any commands.
Harlan has some interesting abilities when he is first rescuedhe can alter time. Because these abilities are unconscious and uncontrollable, they are a danger to the TARDIS and its occupants. As far as we know, none of these abilities were retained after the decontamination procedure performed during the story 'Green Grow the Rushes'.
Alti has no special powers of this kind.
9. What weapons does your character usually use? Companions?
Baileys still got Thesselis weapon of choiceher Bigass Gun, which she rediscovered near the end of 'Green Grow the Rushes'. She prefers energy weapons to projectiles but can use either. She usually keeps a few small knives hidden on her person. In low-tech circumstances, she likes swords.
Rimmer, at the moment, does not carry a weapon. His android body had enhanced strength, and besides, someone might start shooting at him if they see him draw a gun. However, with his android vision and targeting ability, hes a pretty good shot.
Harlan received some firearms training while in the army, during World War II. He can use guns and rifles, but usually he does not carry any weapons.
Alti misses his claws, but he's more than happy to use the pair of sickle-shaped knives that Bailey gave him. His only complaint is that they don't attach to his feet.
10. What are your characters usual attack methods? Companions?
Bailey and Alti go for all-out assaults; Rimmer, something more subtle (and safer). Harlan is midway between the other two.
11. What, if any, relatives and friends are there that might show up in a story?
Bailey has lots of relatives, some of whom work for the White Guardian in one capacity or the other. Edmund is her son sort of (see his Character Description for more details) and he is also a CIA agent, as is Freddie Mercury (another of her children)..
Rimmer doesnt really have any relatives. Being a computer-generated personality and all. However, the real Arnold Rimmer is the father of Dave Lister; Lister's mother is Airfoil.
Harlan has a number of children and grandchildren. His wife was killed by a U.S. government agent in the shootout that got him captured; one of his daughters was also killed by U.S. agents pursuing him a few weeks before. He is still mourning their deaths.
All of Alti's relatives are on Earth, and the crew is unlikely to be running into any of them.
12. Is there any prior history that we should know about your character? Companions?
Baileys previous incarnation was known as Thesseli. Thesseli had been removed from time and space in order to work specifically for the White Guardian; in effect, she was erased from existence and was left in a kind of limbo of never having been born. When Thesseli regenerated at the end of the story Armageddon, she was returned to her normal existence and went back to her home universe, where she was an operative for the Celestial Intervention Agency of Gallifrey. This left a hole in the Guardians organization hence her son was recruited to take her place. She was re-recruited by the Guardian at the end of Green Grow the Rushes.
