The Story Behind The Suga'z

I drawed K-Tee the Hippo for the first time in school during 1996. I was bored and I asked my friend Katrin which animal she wanted to be. Then it was my other friend Linda's turn. I decided to be a brontosaurus, then a T-Rex...
The Suga'z have been ripped off at two different occasions;
1. The British girlgroup the Honeyz stole the name.
2. The British group S Club 7 (you know, Miami 7) stole the Miami thing from one of my drawings (I have proof! It was made way back, in -96 or -97). The original title should be The Suga' Honeyz in Miami.

The first story ever written went something like this; Luniz the Elephant and Jackee the T-Rex have a conversation about what's flying above them, kinda like "It's a bird", "It's a plane", "It's Superman", "It's... K-TEE!". Then K-Tee the Hippo crashes down on them. It was an A4 cartoon strip called "I Believe I Can Fly".
Jackee the T-Rex turned into Jackee the Donkey after a while, although she's a mule (her mom's a horse, the dad a donkey).
"I Believe I Can Fly" continued and the new storyline was; K-Tee was in love. The love of her life was a Rhino called Taryll. Taryll lived with his younger brother TJ the Giraffe (Luniz' soon to be boyfriend) and the older brother Taj the Llama (Jackee's soon to be boyfriend for a short while).

In the beginning, K-Tee, Linuz and Jackee was almost as ordinary animals, that walks on all four, living like in a village. Then they started to walk on two legs, have clothes and live in the city (that now has been given the name Sugarville). Now I've started to draw hands instead of paws and hoofs.

While I did my own stories, I also did cover stories. I mostly did covers of Goofy/Donald Duck (especially Don Rosa's Donald Duck/Uncle Scrooge comics, since I love his sense of humour), Fox Trot, Cal & Hobes, Ernie, Hagbard, Animaniac, and more. You might recognize some. Once I even begun to do a cover of the Disney movie George Of The Jungle. After changing the story line a little, it became "K-Tee Of The Jungle", about a little hippo baby that is in an aircrash and later becomes friends with the talking jungle donkey Jackee and the elephant Luniz (who wants to be a dog). K-Tee grows up in the jungle and one day she finds her love for life, the turtle Darren. But he has his girlfriend with him. I didn't get so far though.

I've also done a story where K-Tee, Luniz and Jackee finds a time-machine and go back in time. In it, goes a whole bunch other stories, depending in what time they are. That would've made a GREAT TV show, wouldn't it? =) (can we say "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" - the TV carton series??) Unfortainly I can't find the original story I did so I can't redraw it and scan it in. =( What a lost for this page, after all, this is the OFFICIAL page for the Suga'z.

Speaking of the "Suga'z" - how did they get their name? Well, Katrin, Linda and myself were in a singing group called the Suga' Honeyz (and we got that name a LONG time before the Honeyz released their single). The name used to be Katrin & Linda's chatname, and they suggested the name for my cartoons.

The rest, as people say, is history.

The Suga'z Different 'Faces'

"Different FACES?! They look the same on every pic!" you might think.
What I mean with Different 'Faces' is that they are different quite often.
1. The original Suga'z. Pre-historic. Don't even get me started...
2. The City-Girls. They moved to the city (at the time I think it was called Sugarburg). They started to get cool.
3. Super Suga'z - Heroines With Platforms (Original Title: Hjältar I Platĺ). These were actually made up by Linda (Luniz), since she do her own Suga'z cartoons. I got to use them though. In my cartoons, they got their powers by accident. A witch happened to give them their powers, but they can only use them at the same time. K-Tee is the fast one, Luniz the smart one (that's why she has that extra brain) and Jackee the strong one. They're all masked and dressed in black. They've also helped the famous FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully (the X-Files, you know?) with a really stupid case once.
4. Suga' Divaz. Superfamous singers. The Super Suga'z are their boduguards sometimes as well...
5. The Evil Suga'z. The Super Suga'z worst enemies. I can't remember their names though, so I'll just call them the Evil ones... They are the worst criminals in the city of Sugarville, they're black shadows so they are hard to find, even with the help of the Super Suga'z super powers. And they've never been cought, so no one knows what they look like (it's easy to guess though).
6. The Pirate Suga'z. Okay not really "Sugar" material here. The Pirates are; One-Eyed K-Tee, one of the two most feared ones of all pirates. She also have a hook instead of left hand, ugly teeth and a wooden leg. On her shoulder she almost always have the ŠElepharrotŠ (Original Name: ŠElegojaŠ - VERY COPYRIGHTED!!!), Luniz. The 2nd most feared pirate works for One-Eyed K-Tee; Jackee the Evil. =)

I think it was about it. The Suga'z have been i space, time travelling, and alot different things, but if they go through an other "evelution", I'll update this ASAP.

K-TEE the HIPPO

K-Tee the Hippo is stupid. She usually have dumb comments, questions etc, and Jackee get annoyed by this quite often... She has 6 piercings that I know of (3 ear, 1 nose, 1 lip, 1 belly button). Her boyfriend for the moment is... i have no idea... She used to have 3 rats as pets, but not anymore.

LUNIZ the ELEPHANT

Luniz the Elephant is the smart one (then you'll know how smart she is when she's a Super Suga'!). She has 4 piercings (3 ear, 1 nose). A funny thing about her is that ear are her hair as well. That's why she kinda have those "ponytail" ears, with ribbons. And although it don't hurt to cut it (because she have short hair as well as the long), it hurts as **** when somebody steps on it. Her boyfriend right now is the actor Ryan (based on the blond cute Canadian Ryan Gosling who plays Young Hercules). What sort of animal is not yet confirmed. She has a bunny rabbit as a pet.

JACKEE the DONKEY

Jackee the Donkey (well, Mule, but that sounds a bit stupid...) is the neutral one. She ain't as fun as K-Tee or smart as Luniz, but who cares? The funniest thing about her is her hair. You could say it change a bit in every cartoon. She started out with long black hair, then long red hair. Then black hair again, but with a blond strip in it. Then black/red(/blue) and some blond braids (see the index logo for example). Then she got red hair again, although this time it had black roots. I haven't decided how it should look like now, I mean, I have to decide, won't I? Her boyfriend right now is Keanu the....haven't decided what animal he is... He's based on the actor Keanu Reeves, anyway. She has 3 pets; 2 dogs and a cat.

Sugarville's orignal name was Sugarburg, but I didn't like the name. A map of the city will be up soon.
