In the beginning... brett, cody, and jow all went to Forest Park Elementary School and became friends over the years. Jow picked up the guitar early in life and then he needed a new guitar but couldn't get an electric, so he quit. Cody had started drum lessons when he was 8 years old. In grade 7 cody picked up the guitar and eventually figured out how to play it and by the time he had learned it... He taught Brett how to play. Brett took up bass in the event that he couldn't do chords. In the summer before high school, Brett and Cody had a band (C4 Plastique) and played one concert before it was over. In grade 9, they were in a band called Pickle Stick (formerly 100% Cotton) with Shawn Massecar which resulted in only one show. So They just jammed together for a while until Jow started listening to the same music. Brett started liking Rancid alot and starting learning their bass lines. He improved ALOT after learning Rancid tabs. In this event that Brett was getting good, we re-taught jow to play guitar.
Cody had gotten into a band with 2 other guys called MarshWiggle.
They got a bit of a local fan base. They had a cd and played bunch of shows in town and 6 hours out of the way. Meanwhile, Brett and Jow started playing together without a drummer and making songs up and cody played with them once in a while to help them out write songs. At One of Marshwiggle's Concerts, brett and jow were selling merchadise using their "throw tape balls and hold up signs saying buy stuff here when they look tactic" and Brett met Kelly there. They started hanging out and started going out. Anyways, MarshWiggle ended due to life in general. The 2 guys had gone to College.
With Brett and Cody's obvious talents and Jow's Super-Fast Learning Abilities, instead of just helping out each other we just decided to make a band. Then looking for a singer was our only major task left to do. We had the name "Decline" until we found out that there was already a band named "The Decline." So we decided to change our name to "The Suits".
Then one time when we we're jamming when Kelly was watching and we just made her sing and it was kool so we got a singer.
We felt our sound had been lacking after we had around 14 songs and we knew Justin Leatherdale from when we used to goto school and he had recently been playing guitar instead of skateboarding. So yeh we practiced with him and songs sounded fuller and better. So we got a 2nd Guitarist.
Kelly was busy with work and school and didn't have time for the band anymore. So we learned all the words and split them up between us. Justin also left the band because our style of music isn't his style of choice.
After playing many shows and and recording their first CD entitled "Hate...Hope...Harmony...", they met Brad at one of the shows at burty bobs and found out he has his own zine and he reviewed our cd in it. We got to know Brad through other shows and he eventually put our April Tour Diary in the 3rd issue of O.S.R. In hopes of making our scene better Brett started a local compilation and Brad had a few songs he wrote that we would practice with him and record them for the comp. We showed him a few of our songs and started jamming with him and then asked him to be in the band.
Joe was starting to go through a tough time in life and started missing numerous practices, and eventually didnt know 4 songs at the time of one show we were playing them at. We had decided to let joe go and get his life back on track.
Feeling like we we're falling apart, we decided to do something to bring it back, so we recorded the Cash Is Your New God EP independently in cody's attic. Cody played joe's parts on the recording.
After a month of being at a 3 piece again, we got Beth to play 2nd guitar. She had been a "roadie" for the band since the beginning and was playing bass earlier for the Misfits cover bands at halloween. Since we knew she was relyable and hard working, and had been able to learn REALLY fast we let her in the band. She had only been playing guitar for 4 weeks and had already played 4 shows with us.
And here we are now.
