ARTICLE I: Name and Purpose

Section 1: The name of this organization shall be the Alpha of Illinois Alumni Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa.

Section 2: The objectives of this society shall be to preserve the association of members in our present active chapter - Theta Omega, to be of service to Wilbur Wright College, to establish "Big Brother - Big Sister" communications to the incoming Theta Omegans, to stimulate interest in continuing academic endeavors by assisting students in the transition to senior institutions, to assist Theta Omega in fund-raising activities for their financial support, to formulate scholarships to be awarded to outstanding members of Theta Omega, to encourage the formation of other alumni chapters and to be part of a new idea - a national Phi Theta Kappa Alumni Association.

ARTICLE II: Chapter Officers

Section 1

The elective officers of the chapter and their respective duties shall be:

President - The president shall preside over all chapter meetings. He shall coordinate all activities and approve disbursements. He shall also serve as a liaison between our chapter and the local, state regional and national groups.
Vice President - The Vice President shall perform all the duties of the president in his absence. He shall present to the president of the chapter a consolidation of the reports of any appointed committees and of Theta Omega activities.
Recording Secretary - The recording secretary shall issue all notices and shall be responsible for all records pertaining to the chapter. He shall keep an accurate record of alumni and honorary members of the chapter.
Corresponding Secretary - The corresponding secretary shall handle all correspondence and maintain a current mailing list of all members.
Treasurer - The treasurer shall collect and care for money and property, other than records, belonging to the chapter and shall make payments only uponapproval of the president.

Section 2: All officers shall be elected for a two-year term, and no office may be held for two consecutive terms. Any candidate for an office must have been a member in good standing of Alpha of Illinois for a least one year.

ARTICLE III: Membership

Section 1: The society shall consist of former active members of Theta Omega who terminated their active membership in good standing, and shall also include honorary members. Alumni members shall have all of the privileges of active members of Theta Omega except the right to vote or hold office. The term alumni member is defined as a member in good standing with a minimum of one year's enrollment in junior college.

Section 2: Honorary membership may be granted to men and women who have rendered distinguished service to mankind.

ARTICLE IV: Initiation

Section 1: Members shall be initiated according to the official initiation ceremony.

Section 2: A membership certificate shall be given to each member at the time of initiation. The certificate shall be signed by the Director of Alumni Chapter secretary, and stamped with the official seal of the society.

Section 3: There will be no chapter dues, however, the national office may impose chapter dues if they determine necessary.

ARTICLE V: Amendments

Section 1: All members shall be notified by the corresponding secretary of the date uponwhich an will be determined. On that date a vote will be taken and a two-thirds (2/3) majority of those present will determine the vote.

ARTICLE VI: Bylaws

Section 1: The chapter meeting will be held in the evening, once a month but more often if need arises.
