Manifesto

THETHE HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI SOCIETY was established in 1998 to bring together old students of Thethe High School in Luka in an effort to reinvigorate the culture of excellence that existed in the early years of the school. That culture saw to it that, many of the school's students then progressed and achieved their academic ambitions.

The collective contribution by these former students who are now professionals of note in various spheres of social life, is our own version of the Reconstruction and Development Programme. Our varied experiences harvested both during our high school and post-matriculation years are being merged under the auspices of the Alumni Society so as to motivate the current generation towards excellence in their academic work and their conduct in general.

A. MISSION OF THE SOCIETY

The Thethe High School Alumni Society strives to serve students of Thethe high School and the community of Phokeng in general through:

1. Devising development programmes to enhance the school's curriculum and help prepare current and future student generations to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
2. Promoting a spirit of fellowship and co-operation amongst successive generations of Thethe High School students.

B. STRUCTURE OF THE SOCIETY

The Thethe Alumni Society is governed by an Executive Council elected from its general membership. Members are affiliated to the Society through established Professional Chapters. Each chapter is a formal forum whose members belong to a group of related professions (see enclosed leaflet).

E. VISION

1. To have in each student of Thethe High School a measure of confidence to face the future,
knowing that a good start in the right direction guarantees success.
2. To have many of our fellow matriculants who are currently jobless or unskilled, a platform to aspire to greater heights and develop themselves.

F. CONCLUSION

Our approach is geared towards making the current and future student generations aware of the challenges that await them once they leave the comfort of high school education. To help these students make their own right choices, the Society provides a support framework which they can consult either as students at tertiary institutions or candidates for the job market.
