  17. How do observations differ when using sense of touch verses the sense of sight?

  18. What material exchanges take place in an ecosystem? (hint: Prepare an aquarium with fish, snails, and aquatic plants.)

  19. What plant and animal life exists in a 6’x6’(15cmx15cm) plot? (hint: Rope off a plot that can be checked each day. Use a magnifying glass and handbooks to identify plant and animal types. Try to estimate the number of each population type.)

  24. Can digestion be simulated? (Hint: use vinegar to imitate stomach acid. Place food items such as crackers and pretzels into a cup of vinegar and note what happens.)

  25. How long does it take for a whole potato to sprout new plants?

  26. What are a pet’s activities for a week? (Hint: Observe the activity of a pet at different times during the day of the week.)

  27. What do ants do in an ant farm? ( Hint: make an ant farm to observe. Collect several ants. Then place them along with some soil and food scraps, into a transparent jar. use a rubber band to cover the top of the jar with a piece of cheesecloth.)

  28. Are insects more active in warm or cold environments?

  29. How does the growth of a plant provided with sunlight compare to the growth of a plant kept in the dark?

  30. How does a spider make a web?

  31. Can most people tell the difference between a name brand and a generic soda of the same type?

  32. On what part of the tongue do most people sense salty tastes?

  33. Can a finger painting be made using vegetables? (hint: add beet greens and some water to a microwave dish. To another dish add seeds and water. Heat the dishes in the microwave oven for a few minutes and then try some finger painting after contents have cooled.)
