There are now so many places to stay on Koh Samet you should have no difficulty finding somewhere to suit you. As an example Vong Duern Resort has rooms from 600B upwards and a Family deLuxe room at 2500B. And SaiKaew on Diamond Beach rooms range from 700B to 3450B. The price drops for longer stays, (700 drops to 490 for over 7 days and 455 over 15 days.) These prices correct to July 2000 as quoted by the hotel at the front desk and liable to change - and remember to negotiate.
There are also hotels in Bhan Phe. The Diamond Hotel is opposite the ferry pier, and opposite the Ao Phrao resort complex.
