The nation's first windmill built for electricity generation appeared beside Galaxy Tower, an observation tower built for the public situated in Bandar Baru Seri Alam (Seri Alam New Town), 25 kilometres north-east of Johor Bahru City.

This windmill is reputed to be the first in the country.   It was erected in 1996 to supply electricity to the Galaxy Tower and the nearby sales office for Seri Alam's housing and commercial schemes.

From the Galaxy Tower, one can have a bird's eye view of the Bandar Baru Seri Alam's development, which features Agarta Universe Theme Park, reputed to be one of the ten largest theme park in the world.  When the sky is clear, one can even see the city centre of Johor Bahru and even the Central Business District of Singapore some 40 kilometres away!
