Johor Bahru City's Inner Ring Road is the
first and only road in Malaysia with it's land-acquiring cost higher than cost of
construction!
The 7 kilometres dual three lane carriage highway runs
from the western end of Daerah Central Johor Bahru (Johor Bahru Central District),
which is the official name for the city's city centre, to the eastern end.
The
RM400 million Inner Ring Road is divided into four developmental phases. First phase
was opened late last year while the second phase is slated to open by July this year.
Of the total cost of the road, only 20 percent is
allocated for the cost of construction, 60 percent for the acquisition of land and another
20 percent for other expenses.
