| In March 1997, the State Government of
Johor appointed five historians to identify areas in Johor for conversion into tourism
sites and historical referral centres within a year. These experts would liase with the state historical
foundation towards building, upgrading and promoting these places to make them more
interesting. With this project, the Johor state would become the first
in Malaysia to launch systematic mapping of historical areas for the people's benefit.   |
