| The Majlis Bandaraya Johor Bahru (Johor
        Bahru City Council) became the first local council in the country to introduce
        cleanliness ratings to all food and drink outlets within it's area of jurisdiction. Every outlets in the city, including those road-side
        stalls, are repeatedly given cleanliness test by the council's officials to ensure
        cleanliness.  After the checks, the food outlets' operators are given ratings ranging
        from A, the cleanest to E, the dirtiest.  They are also issued rating stickers which
        they are compounded by law to stick somewhere noticeable within their premises to show
        their customers what their rating is. Whichever outlets scored an E for the cleanliness rating,
        it is ordered by the council to stop it's business operation for two weeks in order to
        learn how to keep their place clean.  When the outlet reopens two weeks later, the
        officials will check the place and give the rating again.   Majority of the food outlets scored B during various checks
        by the council's officials.   |
