KwaZulu Natal South Coast

Although the luxury South Coast Sun lies just within the borders of the Transkei, it is mostly associated with the South Coast of KwaZulu Natal. The lure of big casino winnings, lively entertainment and fun in the sun attract many visitors to this part of the coast. Lush green tropical surroundings, warm weather and refreshing blue seas have created a sunbathers paradise along the KwaZulu Natal south coast. Driving down from Durban to the Wild Coast Sun (near Port Edward) you will find a plentitude of charming little beachside towns and resorts with miles and miles of golden beach. Along the route you can stop at many displays of intricate carvings, beaded headgear and beautifully woven grass baskets that are on sale by the local Zulus.

Durban is a vibrant city with a year round holiday atmosphere. Apart from the glorious gardens and parks on display in the city, this is also the location of the Gunston 500 surfing competition, which is part of the surfing World Tour. The Indian Market in Victoria Street is a bustling hive of activity where shoppers can find anything from exquisite Indian silk and exotic jewelry to spicy take-always and a selection of curry powders, ranging from 'mild' to 'hellfire'. Durban's Victorian buildings recall the mid 1800's when the new city was named after the Cape governor of the time, Sir Benjamin D'Urban.
