Praia do Almoxarife

This is one of the quieter beaches of Faial, not only because of its large extension, but also because its farther from Horta, meaning that there are less people. The scenery is breathtaking, with open sea and the constant presence of Pico just in front. There are several bars and restarants nearby, as well as changing rooms and toilets. During some periods of time the sea brings large numbers of rocks ashore, diminishing the area where you can lay your towel, but the beach is lovely just the same.
