Monastir
The city was originally built around the Ribat. This massive,
square building was founded in 796 AD by Harthema ibn Aiyan by order of Caliph
Haroun ar-Rachid. This Baghdad Caliph believed that every man,
garrisoned in the city for 3 days, should be allowed to enter the
gates of Paradise.
