Summary
Surprise, surprise! Team Road Rules takes home the gold on a "slip" of fate!
Ya, ya, ya! I know what you all are thinking! I'm wolfing down a good chunk of my review from last week even as I type. But before you pass on the salt, let me point out that RR's slide to victory was only made possible by the Dot-Comers' unfortunate/convenient eleventh hour slip up. I don't know, I've replayed that "slow" skate relay race about a half a dozen times; and as far as I can tell it was a virtual hare race for the Dot-Comers--up until "Folly" and Toby's dance routine... where Toby decides to perform a stop, drop, and roll maneuver. All the while the constant Michael Bay style jerky, nauseating, camera movements make pinpointing any possible foul play virtually impossible! What gives? The Dot-Comers put the Roadies to shame in just about every event--with the exception of the Bobsled (and they would've won that had they swapped the lightweight girls for acouple heavyweight guys), and then they choose the simplest event to perform their Stooge act? I smell a rat. Oh well, at least the Dot-Com(mies)ers were able to take a few pointers from Team Real World and sneak in their own "Sweet Revenge" prank via jury-rigging a piece of scrap iron to the Shasta's drive axle, thus enabling it to "clang", "clang" away. But if it was the Dot-Com(mies)ers' intention to give the appearance that the Shasta needed maintenance, then why not add a bonus prank by referring the troopers to the nearest Sears mechanic? However on the flip side... The Roadies' performances were marginal at best: James and Laterrian did kick some heinie in the Bobsled event--as well as Mmmmm' saada on the Skeleton sled; HOWever, I'd advise the others to keep their day jobs: As expected, Bumpkin flew like Superman, then spilled like a can of beans; Kickback Kathy gave a lame ol' jump that even a four year old would admire; and then our "elite skier", Folly took to the Skeleton track like a pinball--thus failing to beat the time needed to win. And as expected, Folly took the temporary defeat as well as any die-hard competitor with a ski pole rammed up their heinie would--lashing out at Peek-A-Boo and James, then taking on the camera buff for acouple of rounds. Bravo Folly! Dave would be proud. I suppose you could cite the Dot-Com girls' excessive taunting as contributing to Folly's little tantrum, but generally that excuse only works for 12 year olds and under. Folly should know better! Plus, who the hell is this they that Folly is referring to when she whines, "This could've been a lot of fun and they ruined it!"??? Oh, and BTW... what is up with James' passive/borderline submissive attitude around Folly anyway? There's a scene during the Skeleton race, where James is cautioning a Dot-Comer (for safety reasons) not to slam too hard into any walls--to which Folly abruptly orders him to SHUT UP in a condescending tone loud enough for all to hear. Now I know it may look cute and innocent, but if James isn't careful Folly will have him as her very own boy toy before you know it (Oh, so he can get assertive on Laterrian/T but not Folly? Get real)! James defiantly needs to learn when to put his foot down around Folly, otherwise he'll come off looking like a chump! P.S:
NEXT WEEK: What- Are they in New Orleans already?!? Jump straight to "Mission Impossible: Get Shorty". Or go back to "Frosty Face off, Part I".
