Day 2

Amanda

We woke up early this morning (REALLY EARLY!) because of Adam. He woke up at about three o'clock (yes, I do mean a.m.) and plodded around trying to get to the dunny, thereby waking up Amanda. He then proceeded to wake up mom so they could chat and Amanda would never get back to sleep. We all were up and about by five-thirty in the morning! We had crumpets for breakfast, which I'd never really seen before.

We mucked about the house until we embarked out on the adventure of the local Blockbuster store. Ask me when I get back to show you my Aussie Blockbuster card. Turns out I can use it at home, and they have to call the Aussie store to check me out (if I have any overdue tapes, if I'm a minor, etc.). Sounds to me like something to try!

We had some meat pies and vanilla slices for a snack and I'd never seen either of them before either. The meat pies were like the big ones you can get, or shepard's pie with no potatoes, only bite sized. The vanilla slices are custard with two layers of a pastry-like substance and icing on top. They were both really good!

After that we came back and watched Die Hard on tv. I hadn't seen that movie in a long time, but I really like it. I can still remember all the lines from it : ) We ate McDonald's while we watched it, and it was the same as it is back home.

After the movie, we drove to Tower Hill. Tower Hill is the extinct volcano (the mountain that curves inwards, Dave). Mom spotted a koala! It was the cutest thing, and so SMALL! We took tons of photos of it, and then went searching for more. We drove up to the picnic area, and I spotted something in the trees. No one stopped. Then we saw an emu. I took photos of it. After that we went to leave, but I subtly stated that no one had stopped to see my koalas that I spotted. We went back for another round, and guess what? It wasn't a koala. It was TWO koalas. A mother and a baby. We took lots of photos of them both.

After Tower Hill, we went to Pickering Point. Adam and I collected some rocks and shells, and took lots of photos of the ocean and the cliffs there.
