Here we are at sunset at South Padre Island In Southern Texas.
We had driven all day and arrived just at sunset in South Padre Island. A beautiful island just off the mainland in the southern tip of Texas. The beaches were clean and the people were friendly. when we went shopping we found the prices were very fair and the shops were well stocked. We went 45 miles out into the gulf fishing.
Below is the catch for the boat, a small charter boat called The Osprey II.
Black Fin Tuna catch.
I caught four of these and my husband caught four also. What fun we had, one of my fish weighed 28 pounds and quite a fighter. A couple of the fish above were yellow fin tuna and you can tell which ones by the size, they are larger. My husband and I caught a total of 150 pounds of fish on this outing. See we also fish no all scuba diving. The scuba diving was not good when we were there, winds were up and a cold front was coming thru. The cost of the scuba trips which were 7 miles off shore was rather high too. We were told $75 each (not including equipment) for each person, for two dives. We passed on that. We also fished from the dock out behind the condo and the next picture is me (barefoot-diver) holding a flying fish I caught on a hook baited with shrimp. The flying fish is also called a Sea Robin.
