Resort Descriptions

Construction Site!

On this page, I will attempt to describe each of the WDW properties in such a way that you will know exactly which one is for you! Of course, I may not succeed, so feel free to email me if you have any questions!

The Value Resorts

  • All-Star Resorts: These resorts offer the cheapest hotel accomodations on Disney property, but they also happen to be the most outrageously themed resorts Disney offers. There are three different Resorts thus far. All-Star Sports comes complete with gigantic football helmets. Its buildings are keyed to different sports, each with specific theming. All-Star Music's buildings are themed towards musical types. For example, the Jazz building has giant saxophones. There is even a piano-shaped swimming pool. The third, All-Star Movies opened January 1999, and sports themeing from 101 Dalmations, The Love Bug, Fantasia, Toy Story, and the Mighty Ducks!

Each room is approximately 260 sq.ft. and contains 2 double beds. King rooms are available. Pizza delivery service is available, but there is no room service and no full-service restaurants at any of the All-Star resorts - only food courts. These resorts are closest to Animal Kingdom and offer bus service to all WDW destinations. Rates

  • Ft. Wilderness Campgrounds: I know next to nothing about these, so I'll be doing my homework first! SORRY! Rates
  • The Moderate Resorts

  • Caribbean Beach Resort: Want a Disney vacation with a tropical feel that is easy on the wallet? Then CBR is for you. This resort is so colorful and fun that you can almost hear the steel drums! Each of the buildings is painted in bright island hues and the resort is home to the Captain's Tavern full-service restaurant, a food court, and a variety of water activities.

The resort is divided into six villages, each themed like a different part of the Caribbean islands. Area names include Jamaica, Trinidad and Aruba. Each has its own pool and all share a main pool with waterfall and waterslide. Boat and bike rentals are available as well.

Each of the rooms is approximately 340 sq.ft. and has 2 double beds. Limited room service (pizza, chicken, sandwiches) is available. Bus service is available to all WDW destinations. Rates

  • Coronado Springs Resort
  • : this Southwest-themed resort opened in in 1996 to serve convention goers. Each of the 315-square foot rooms has 2 double beds (king beds available) and a coffee maker and supplies. King rooms as well as some suites are available.

Maya Grill, a Latin-influenced full-service restaurant is on-property, as well as Pepper Market, the resort's food court. A wealth of recreation is available, including the main and quiet pools. Guests can reach Disney parks via the WDW bus system. Additionally, Coronado Springs offers direct bus service to the Boardwalk Inn. Rates

  • Dixie Landings Resort
  • : this Southrn-themed resort is divided into two areas, Alligator Bayou and Magnolia Bend. Each has its own distinct flavor. Magnolia Bend is home to stately antebellum-type buildings, replete with sculpted gardens and quiet courtyards with fountains. Alligator Bayou is more thickly wooded and is dotted with more rustic buildings.

The two areas share a spacious food court, the Colonel's Cotton Mill, as well as Boatwright's Dining Hall, a full-service restaurant. Ol' Man Island is the resort's main swimming area, but quiet pools abound. Plenty of recreation is available, from boat rentals to bicycling and even fishing! In-room pizza delivery is available from 4 p.m. until midnight.

Each of the resort's 2,048 rooms are approximately 315 square feet. Most feature 2 double beds, though some king rooms are available. In addition, the Alligator Bayou rooms offer trundle beds that will allow a 5th person to sleep in the room. Rates

  • Port Orleans Resort
  • : just like the Big Easy, this resort captures the charm that is New Orleans' French Quarter. Colorful buildings, wrought-iron railings and iron street lamps give this resort a romantic feel.

Port Orleans features a full-service restaurant, Bonfamille's Cafe as well as a large food court. Both feature Cajun and Creole dishes as well as traditional fare. In-room delivery of pizza and chicken wings is available from 4 p.m. until midnight.

Doubloon Lagoon is the resort's main swimming area, featuring a sea serpent water slide. Guests here have pool sharing privileges with Dixie Landings. Boats and bicycles are available for rent as well.

Each of the resort's 1,008 rooms is approximately 315 square feet. Some feature king beds, but most have two double beds. Rates

  • Wilderness Lodge Resort
  • : one of Disney's most elaborately themed-resorts, Wilderness Lodge pays homage to the magnificent National Park lodges of the turn of the century. From the breathtaking lobby and it's totem poles and 80-foot fireplace to the geyser that erupts every hour, there are plenty of sights to see here!

Wilderness Lodge is home to 728 guest rooms. Most feature 2 queen beds, though some offer a king bed, and some even have one queen bed and bunk beds - sure to be a hit with kids. Suites are also available. At 340 square feet, the rooms are the smallest of the deluxe resorts, but wonderfully themed.

The resort has one pool, complete with a twisting water slide and a relaxing area where "Silver Creek" flows into the pool. Two whirlpools are nearby. There is also a beach with lounge chairs, volleyball, and bike and boat rentals.

Artist's Point is the centerpiece of dining at the resort, serving 3 meals and offering a character breakfast (currently featuring Pooh and friends). Whispering Canyon is more relaxed (and even downright rowdy at times - ask for ketchup) and serves lunch and dinner. Roaring Forks food court offers snacks and light meals. Room service is available for breakfast and dinner. Rates
