Tuesday
Time passed quickly in Penang (!). As this was our last day in Penang, we had plans to go to quite a few places. So after a hearty breakfast (on stuff we bought from the supermarket at One-Stop the evening before), we set off.
![]() And of course, we decided to take the bus to… ![]() ![]() Batu Ferringhi Beach! I remember while it was not high noon at the beach (mostly tucked behind by high-rise hotels lining the coast), the sun certainly was bright! (Hence Xinghao in sunglasses? But how did he wander into my picture? Maybe the sun got too glaring… heheh.) ![]() ![]() Tempting enough for us to contemplate taking up speedboat-driven hang-gliding. We were somewhat negotiating with a local, and finally we did not take it up. Maybe next time! ![]() Anyway the beach trip somewhat wore us out (as you can see, three out of five nod their heads in approval here…) and we took a short siesta on the bus taking us to… ![]() Ayer Itam, known for its temple on the peak as well as its cool shaded path up, lined with shops where one could shop for souvenirs and bargain vigourously (or shop vigourously and bargain for souvenirs?). ![]() Somewhat near the top, we chanced upon a pavilion in the midst of a pool filled with tortoises (and of course water). ![]() ![]() Entranced as we were by the astonishing sight of these hard-backed creatures scrambling to get a good sunning spot on the slippery stones in the pool, we persisted to the top (Xinghao was a waylaid by a huge carpet which depicted a lion and a kid- pseudo-Narnia I think? But he didn’t buy it in the end). The view was- what can we say- pretty cool. ![]() ![]()
