Patty

The most special thing about Patty is her hair. I don't mean she has long and shinny hair that people usually think of in those shampoo commercial. It is the color of her hair sealed a strong and unfadable memory in the majority's minds.

The first time I met her was in my financial accounting class. The class was tough and the teacher sucked. But there were some interesting people thou. The most classical example in my mind now was "full breast dog." How did we know she was "big"? In early September when the weather was still hot, she wore many super low cut vest. We all worried if she would expose something while walking or doing some other body movements. She was tall and she was always willing to show off her natually (hopefully)gifted "part". The most annoying thing was that she always sat in the first row and asked question. The sucked prof usually walked to her and looked at her from top! Why is she a dog? It was because her hair was colored like those grey and black dogs' hair.

However, this "dog" is not the person I am going to talk about here. Patty always gives me an impression that she is in the top trend of fashion. In our accounting class, which only lasted for 3 months, Patty colored her hair twice. The first one was blonde (if I still remember it right) and the second one was multicolored. Her head really attracted attention from everyone. Without this distinctive color, I am afraid I won't know her existence in school. One other thing made her famous in class was her cell phone. One day, her phone rang in class. Everyone looked at her with a demeaning smile. I heard she said in Chinese, "I am having class now, I will call you back." It was embarassed enough for her. The funniest thing was her phone rang again like 10 or 20 seconds after hanging up. Of course, everyone laughed again. This time, she turned her phone off while saying to the class, "I am turning it off."

We did not each other in the first year. In the second year, we only talked because of other friends. Later, we took management accounting together. She skipped some classes and missed some notes. One day, she came by and asked me some question. Honestly, I did not want to explain because I did not feel like to help those skip class on purpose. Although I answered her at the end, my facial expression gave her a message that I was a bit annoyed. After that, she did not ask me anything on accounting. One day, she colored her hair into shocking pink! We were shocked at the begining but calmed very quickly as everyone knew coloring hair was part of her life. However, the shocking pink really kept her out from some career activities offered in school. She told me that an organizer of "career lunch meeting" did not let her to go to the "banking lunch" because of her hair.

The third year was the year we actually knew more of each other as we went to another class together. It was the Risk Management and Insurance. We sat together and gave nicknames to people in our class. Then, we discussed about the assignment paper and prepared the exam together with some other classmates. We then exchanged icq and phone number and talked a lot of gossips in school It was pretty fun to talk with her on those things. One day, she convinced me a contestant in Miss Hong Kong was good looking. I said that girl was not bad. Later, I discovered Patty's Chinese name sounded the same as the Miss HK's although a character was different. So, I knew why she wanted people to recognised the beauty of that girl!! The girl was number 13 in the pageant. So now, I sometimes said, "may I speak to no. 13?" when phoning her.

This is our fourth year in McGill. Although we won't have classes together, we sometimes call up some friends to have meals.
