Shots

Before you come you will want to get vaccinations and oral medicines to guard against potential diseases. Your first step should be contacting your physician or local Health Department.

Wesleyan World Missions recommends that you have the following immunizations before entering Suriname:Hypodermic needle and tablets

yellow fever
tetanus booster
hepatitis A
hepatitis B
typhoid (may be taken orally)

You must have the yellow fever vaccine before you can reenter the United States from Suriname. This vaccine is only administered at government approved facilities. For more information about the yellow fever vaccine, call 1-800-VACCINE or contact your local or state Department of Health clinic.

Several of these vaccinations require multiple injections over a period of time. Contact your physician or local Health Department to receive any vaccines or prophylactics.

Vaccinations may be considerably less expensive through the Health Department.
