The Square of the old city of Beer Sheva

By the end of the 80s, the municipality of Beer Sheva invested money in reconstructing the square of the the old part of the city. A small fountain from red breaks, a tiny amphitheater for official ceremonies and a special water way were constructed. Today the fountain is out of order and the municipality is considering to change it again.

On Fridays morning, artists are exhibiting their hand made crafts in the square. Until 1993, The annual Book Week was located in front of the amphitheater. In 1995/6, the municipality turned the near by Keren-Kayemet St., the first main street of the old city, into a pedestrian street for the benefit of the shoppers and the shops.
