Beer Sheva - The city of Abraham Isaac And Jacob, the capital of the modern Negev, is located on the north periphery of the Negev desert some 115 Km South East of Tel Aviv and 120 Km South West of Jerusalem on the west highway direction (85 Km on the way through Hebron). The city is sitting on the main way from the center of Israel to Eilat.

The valley of Beer Sheva was always a target for inhabitants because of the water coming from Hebron mountains in the winter and the huge amount of underground water in the area. The weather in Beer Sheva is of extreme nature. In summer time, the temperature rises up to 42 degrees Celsius for many days. In winter, the temperature could go down to 0 degrees Celsius at night. The average rain fall is 260 mm a year. The area north of Beer Sheva, until Kiriat Gat (45 Km), is getting more rain and called The wheat growing center of Israel.

During the transaction period from summer to winter there is a unique nature phenomena in Beer Sheva area - dust storms and mini sand hurricanes. The dust is covering the whole city. The annual dust sinking is 200 - 250 tons/SqKm. Fogs and humidity at night time are also unique nature phenomena to Beer Sheva and the Negev. They occur 50% of the annual nights and caused by wet air coming from the sea and trapped under hot and dry air above it. the relative humidity is reaching 86% through many of August nights.

Nature is trying to preserve itself in sophisticated ways. The lack of water in the desert, forced nature to grow trees in an umbrella shape. This way the large shade of the tree is protecting the near by surrounding from dehydration and extinguishing. Those trees are spread all over the Negev and near by Beer Sheva. The trees are protected by the law.
