This shell type window covers, 8 stories building was completed on the late 1970s. It is located in the center of the old city, near the central square, and was the first high rise building for commercial purposes. Bank Hapoalim, the largest commercial bank in Israel occupies 2 floors. It is the largest volume of money per day branch, because it serves the largest chimical industries, Dead Sea Works, phosphates and other multy national companies. The other 6 floors are rented by lawyers, accountents, adult night school and other small businesses. On winter 1994, an electric shortage cuased fire in the building. All of the tenets were evacuated with minor injuries. The building was renovated and was fully operational within 4 months.
