My Dear Holvik:
After your call today, I got in touch with Mrs. Esther Dillon a daughter of E.O.Estenson and she got the following information for you on the axe. It was given to Hjalmar HOland about 4 or 5 years ago and was originally found by Mr. Estenson when on a fishing trip with his father in 1870 on Lower Cameron Lake near Detroit Lakes. They found the axe near the shore in a few feet of water. It could not have been very deep but it seemed according to Mr. Estenson that it had been washed up by the water perhaps from a greater depth. he was ten years old at the time and this was in June. His memory is remarkable and he has a very distinct recollection of these things that happened over 80 years. He is now 92 years and I am sure would not be against using his name in connection with any information on the axe. It seems that the Twin City papers carried some story some time ago about the finding of a similar axe near Climax and this was also found by Estenson but his name not mentioned in connection with it.
