The end of August/early September brought many problems. The digital camera stopped working, so the pictures will be done the old fashioned way. Currently, they are still in the camera waiting for the roll to be finished, then developed, then scanned, and finally uploaded to the website. Progress continued. A pulley was used to tug the trusses to the second floor with the tractor. In about 6 hours over two days, all the second floor trusses were set. The rest of the second day was spent putting up purlins and braces on the lower chord of the trusses. On the following day, the green metal roofing was unbound and moved to the roof. At that point we found that we were 8 pieces short. Over that day and the next morning we put up three-quarters of the second floor roof and moved on to sheathing the east walls and putting up the soffits on those walls. On Friday, 3 Sep, the first of the windows was placed on the second floor east wall. The next step was to put the lower roof on the east wing and side the east walls. By then, the extra roofing would be delivered and the roof could be finished. Unfortunately, Rick's next step was off the end of the scaffold, falling 19 feet into the cellar from the second floor, breaking a rib, cracking three others, and dislocating his shoulder. A slight adjustment was made to the schedule. By 14 September, the camera was back and Ed had continued sheathing with help from his father-in-law. On the morning of the 14th, the house looked like this. |

![]() Over half the windows were in place by 14 September and it started to look like a house rising from the corner of the meadow. The sheathing has not been cut for the kitchen windows on the left. |
