Gurney Drive, Penang


This coastal road here is called Gurney Drive. From here, we can view lovely Georgetown City. In the evenings, a lot of people like to just sit by and watch the sea and enjoy the sea breeze while eating in many of the eateries or restaurants found along this coastal road.

For those who still do not know that Penang is famous for its hawker food, the picture on the right will give you a rough idea what does hawker here means. It is normally a small push-cart or bicycle or even a van that sells food. They will normally gather in a place to sell so you have a wide variety of food to choose from. Most people in Penang like to go to Hawker centers to eat because of the many variety of food to choose from and they are normally very economical too. The food are also very tasty and normally you cannot find these hawker food in restaurants or very few restaurants cook the hawker-style food which is unique. That's why the popularity.

The houses or shall I say mansions along Gurney Drive are mostly of the Colonial days and are of historical value. They belong to the very rich. Prices of property along this road is exhorbitant. It is considered to be the upper-class area.
