The art of the movie poster was never more beautiful than in the silent film era.  Using the stone litho process, the richness and beauty of the posters of this age are unequaled today.   When films were released, various advertising material was available to the exhibitor, 1-sheet, 3-sheet and 6-sheet posters as well as inserts, half sheets, window cards and sets of stills and hand-colored lobby cards.  All to lure the patron in to the theatre to view their favorite.  This art is still very appealing today and a miracle so much has survived to this day.
