The Goals of Kindred Spirits
The Goals of Kindred Spirits
- To create a social network between Pagan students here at Penn.
- To discuss religious and spiritual ideas.
- To help with inter-faith dialogue within the Penn community.
- To educate the larger community about Paganism.
- To provide a visible presence for Pagans within the larger community.
- To promote religious tolerance.
- To aid, spiritually and emotionally, Pagan victims of religious discrimination and intolerance.
The first step in reaching these goals is to inform people we exist. The plan to do this is as follows:
- A facebook group that has pagan terms in its description so that pagans searching will find it: check. Although, now that there is "Global" searching, it's a bit harder to find. Sigh.
- Flyers everywhere advertising our existence, put up during New Student Orientation and for each meeting: Done for NSO, but most of them were torn down almost as soon as I posted them. Will do again for meeting #2.
- Get a table on Locust Walk during New Student Orientation: Done as of Sept. 16. I ran out of brochures.
- An open information meeting, possibly sponsored by Riepe College House: this is in the works--there has been discussion with the House Dean.
- Get recognition and aid from the Office of the Chaplain, hopefully getting listed on their website: I had a meeting with the Chaplain, and we will be on their website and also on future flyers.
- Have regular open-to-the-public and publicized meetings: The first meeting was a very small one, but we got things started. Hopefully, the next one will be bigger.
- Register as an official Penn group: This was discussed at the first meeting, and now the paperwork must be filled out.
- Get other Pagan sites to link to this site: As this is really a temporary site until we can get a better URL, it's probably too early to do this.
