Why (re-)found this group?

The last bunch that tried to form a Pagan student group here at the University of Pennsylvania fell apart back in 2000, but they weren't as stubborn as me.

Support for incoming freshmen. I felt extremely lonely and resourceless as a freshman pagan. The Campus Crusade for Christ was loud and scary to me, and the sheer amount of ignorance about my religion in those around me made me hesitate to speak up and ask for things like a day off from work on one of my holidays, or to take a test early. It was only lucky that I found a worship group that meets my needs almost as soon as I arrived, even if they're based more in Jersey than in Philly. But what about Solitaries? What about people for whom there is no group nearby that follows their particular path? What about people who don't even know what path they want to be on?

The prevalence of ignorance in the student population. Very few people know about paganism, and many either don't take it seriously or believe that it all amounts to Satanism. I would like to show people what paganism is really all about simply by existing and answering whatever questions are asked. I myself have explained paganism to about a dozen different individuals in my time at Penn, some of whom had never even heard of Wicca, which I found a bit surprising considering how much it's in the media.
