Authors Notes: I started this story a few months ago, but when I lost all of my story notes after starting the third part, I couldn't remember what I wanted to do with it, and when I asked my Jr5 pond for help, Camilla answered my hails! THANK YOU Cam, I am forever in your dept! -Kathryn (aka, Aquiel)

Authors Note:When Aquiel asked for her help on her story, there was no way I could refuse. My main problem is, I can never say no to a challange... This was no exception.. And as I read the story and loved it, I was more than happy to help! Just hope my writing are as good....Cam

Disclaimer: Unfortunately for you and me, Star Trek Voyager belongs to Paramount Pictures, but we're free to add our own ideas, right?

"Forever This Way"

Part Two

Commander Chakotay was on his way back to his quarters. He had left Kathryn in her own quarters, getting dressed. After her run in with the floor, The Doctor had ordered her to stay off her feet, to give her leg a rest, but Voyager was on its way to the location of the distress call, and he knew Kathryn well enough to know that resting her injured leg was not on her agenda.

Chakotay had enough time before their estimated arrival to go back to his quarters and shower and dress, and as he was on his way to the bridge he spotted Tom Paris up ahead, who had slowed his pace to wait for him. "Lieutenant," he said.

"Commander." he continued, "How is the captain's leg?"

"She's in pain, but she wouldn't admit it to anyone. She's supposed to be resting, but you know as well as I do that she won't." Tom gave a knowing smile, as the two men continued down the corridor.

The two officers arrived at the bridge, and took their places, Tom at the helm, and Chakotay next to his captain's seat. She arrived a moment later, still limping from her injury, and sat down in her chair, handing Chakotay a datapadd.

"How's the leg?" he asked

"Fine" she replied.

"Sure" he said, smiling a little. He looked down at the padd in his hand, "What's this?" he asked.

"It's the information on the distress call. It originated from the third planet in a system not far from here. I've asked Neelix if he could identify the planet, but he's never heard of it." she said.

"What's our ETA?" he asked.

"We should be arriving any time." she answered. As if in response to his Captain's voice, Ensign Harry Kim announced that they had arrived. "Slow to impulse Tom, Harry" she asked, "Are we still receiving the distress call?"

"Yes Captain. Sensors are showing that the distress call is emanating from a highly populated region in what looks to be the main city, but we will need to establish an orbit before I can get you an exact location" he said.

"Very Good Mr. Kim. Open hailing frequencies" Captain Janeway said.

"Hailing frequencies open Captain" Ensign Kim responded.

"This is Captain Kathryn Janeway of the Federation Starship Voyager. We are responding to your distress call." She sat up strait in her seat as she recited the familiar set of opening comments. "Any response?" she asked after a moment.

"Negative Ca, wait we're receiving something now," the young Ensign responded, "Audio only."

"Go ahead." she nodded at him.

"This is Director C'aolam, First Leader of the planet Zarus3. Thank you for responding to our call. We are in need of help."

"We will be glad to help you in any way we can. Can you tell me what happened here?" Janeway asked.

"Our largest colony, on the northern hemisphere was attacked by an unknown enemy. The Zaran are a friendly people Captain, and we would appreciate any help that you are willing to spare. Of course I could not offer much in return, but you are welcome to visit our world."the Director said.

Thank you for your offer, Director. I will gather a small group of my people, and we will arrive shortly."

"Acknowledged, we will be waiting. And thank you again. C'aolam out."

"Friendly fellow!" Tom said, giving a look over his shoulder at the Captain.

"Janeway to engineering, B'Elanna, did you hear that?" Janeway asked.

"Yes Captain." the Lieutenant responded.

"Good. Meet me in transporter room One in 10 minutes."

"Aye Captain, Torres out."

"Harry, you're with me. Chakotay," she said, turning to face him, "Keep monitoring for any evidence of those aliens, and get us out of there if they return. The last thing we want is to be caught in the crossfire." Captain Janeway turned and walked toward the turbolift, and stepped inside after Harry. "Deck four."

Kathryn shielded her eyes with her hand as they adjusted to the bright light of the planet Zarus3.

She turned to see her officers doing the same.

"Captain Janeway?"

She turned to see the source of the voice. It belonged to a man whom she presumed to be Director C'aolam, a man, she noticed, who looked very human. He was walking toward them, followed closely by two others.

"Director C'aolam." she answered, as he neared.

"Yes. Welcome to Zarus3 Captain. I see that you have brought some colleagues with you."

"Director, this is my chief engineer Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres, and my chief of operations, Ensign Harry Kim." The two officers stepped forward and nodded slightly as she introduced them.

"It is a pleasure to have you with us. Now Captain, if you will follow me, I will take you to the center of control for the city." he said, and extended a hand toward the road. The Captain slid into step beside the Director, and Harry and B'Elanna followed behind. Captain Janeway looked around as the Director began to explain the highlights of the planet. She saw people walking on the street, and children playing in the parks. Something wasn't right here; she saw no evidence of an attack at all.

"Excuse me for interrupting Director, but I see no evidence that anything is wrong here." she said, "Everything seems to be fine."

"Oh, forgive me Captain, for not mentioning it earlier. This is not the main city, where the attack took place. Over the years, we have found it safer to locate the center of control away from the main city, in case of an event such as this. The Zaran are a technologically advanced race, as I'm sure you can tell, but the damage our main city suffered during the last attack has proven difficult for even our technicians." he said.

"I see, well that explains it." she said, but she wasn't completely convinced. She quickly touched her communicator on her chest, glad that it was there. "Lieutenant Torres can take a look at your systems, and get any help from Voyager if she needs." Janeway added.

"Wonderful. Third Tel can take her to the city to survey the damage."

"Harry, you go with her. Report back in one hour."

"Aye Captain." B'Elanna said, and she and Harry turned and left.

"Now Captain, if you will." he said, motioning for her to continue walking, "I'll take you to the center of control."

She nodded, and continued walking, as C'aolam began to talk again. She didn't like the idea of splitting up the away team, but the sooner they could survey the damage, the sooner they could get back to Voyager.

It had been over an hour since B'Elanna and Harry had left for the city, and they were late reporting back. The Director had shown her around the center of control, but now it was time to go. "Director, if you'll excuse me, I'd like to contact my officers." she said.

"Of course." he replied, and stepped back, allowing for privacy.

"Janeway to Torres." she said as she touched her communicator, but there was no response. Alarm warnings sounded in her head, but she told herself they were probably just out of range. "Janeway to Kim." Nothing.

"Is there a problem?" came a voice over her shoulder.

"Nothing too serious, my officers seem to be out of range. Janeway to Voyager." she said, and waited for the response from her First Officer, but there was none. "What is going on here?" she asked herself.

"I'm sorry to have lied to you, but it was the only way." The Director's cool voice said from

behind her. She spun around to face him. "What are you talking about?" she said angrily.

"I'm afraid you won't be able to contact your ship, and I assure you that your officers are safe, although I wasn't expecting that you would bring others." he said.

"They'll be fine, don't worry, and your ship will be fine as well, I'm sure that man with the tatoo will take care of it. You don't have to worry about anything. Everything you need is right here, with me."

"I refuse to be held captive on your planet. Let me and my people go and we will leave your system." she said starring at the Director.

"Captain, you don't seem to understand." he said, walking over and taking her hands, "You were brought here for a reason. I can't allow you to leave, because I love you, and now that you're here, we'll be together forever."
