<< return to The Robots
This is a picture of one of the five search robots. Each is 6" in diameter and 2" in height. The chassis is made of 3/16" polycarbonate sheet. The wheels are 1.75" K'NEX wheels with aluminum hubs. The wheels are held onto the motor shafts with 6-32 set screws. The gear motors were made by MicroMo and are 12 V with 141:1 ratios and magnetic encoders. The motors are mounted on brackets made from 1.5" x 0.125" aluminum angle. The rear castor is 1.75" in height. The whole thing is held together with 10-24 hardware. All fabrication was completed either in my high school's machine shop or in my small home shop. Below is another angle of the robot above. | ||||
