This part of the site is intended to explain the design and function, both mechanical and electronic, of the six robots that will be used in my research. The five I have already begun building are the 'search' robots that will search the simulated minefield. In the case of this project, the minefield will probably be a linoleum floor and the mines will be dirt and debris. The search bots are responsible for trying to distinguish the dirt on top of the floor from any shadows or patterns on the floor. The last robot will be the 'sweeper' robot, and as the name implies will go in to vacuum up what the other five robots find. The computing power of each robot will be kept to a minimum as they will all be linked wirelessly to each other and to a nearby PC as well. | ||||
