Ever since my first train trip at the age of five I have been
intriqued by the giant diesel and early steam locomotives. My
first trip lasted 3 days and nights from Richmond, Va., to my
father's new base at the Presidio of San Francisco, Ca. To me
at age 5, the steam locomotive pulling our train was a huge,
smoke belching monster! I loved it! In later years I made other
trips from Trenton, NJ., to Tampa, Fl., on the Seaboard Lines,
and other cross- country trips and memories that you could never
hope to experiance flying in an airplane! I can't think of any
other mode of transportation that can compare with the casual &
carefree feeling you get while traveling the rails. These pics
are the very types of locomotives that I grew fond of as a child
and a teenager. Below, you'll find a lot of great links to the world
of railroading. For my older El Paso friends, the next page should
ring the old nostalgia bells. I wish they would bring back the
old trolly cars to El Paso!
