Writing on the Stall

Commentary and the evil Stall

Writing on the Stall has created quite an uproar in the halls of FHS and in the community as well. As an "aspiring middle-aged tyrant" who takes particular interest in the development of young skulls full of mush (especially the teenage variety), I am amused and somewhat encouraged by the publication. Though it is my opinion that some of the articles are somewhat irreverent and lack the polish and gentle touch that comes from many years lived, they do demonstrate yough intellects doing more than watching TV and tagging rundown buildings.
I would like to applaud the editorial staff of Writing on the Stall for their efforts. But, I would also speak a word of caution directly to them: by expressing your opinions on paper, you join the arena of debate. You reveal your position to those "middle-aged tyrants" who would "teach." Remember, those "middle-aged tyrants" were once teenagers too (not all of them forget) and have the added advantage of many years lived since then. Be prepared, writers on the stall, to intelligently defend your ideas.

The Janitor

Cosmic Confusion

This is the type of letter which should NOT be given to us if you want to be published. We laughed for a good six-hours after receiving this. Since it was anonymous, we can't be defacing an individual; only some vague, not so promising, philosopher. If anyone can tell me the purpose, meaning, or intent of this editorial, please inform me. I am still lost. Maybe you have to be one with the universe accepting the Chi within...I don't know. Anyway, this is the article.

There is a song that says if we were all children, the world would be a better place. Is the innocence of a child better than the wisdom of an adult? For that matter, is the innocence of a child really all that innocent?

There is profound violence in the world, often from children. This violence shocks people. Why? Why should they not expect this violence from children? After all, isn't it the
wise ones who teach them? Don't they expose children to violence when they describe it and tell them to watch out for it and avoid it?
Speaking of wise people, don't you think that the world would be a frightful place if we were all wise? Wouldn't everyone be unhappy, because with wisdom comes understanding, and with understanding comes the realization that life isn't full of happiness because along with happiness, there is always pain.

The innocense of a child or the wisdom of a senior. Ther has to be an in between, but isn't what's in between just confusing?

Who Said That?

This issue, I'll give you several quotes and I'll tell you who said them next time...maybe.

"We must disarm these right-wing fanatics to save this great democracy from all this crazy oppresion caused by those who seek to everthrow our government."

"Stop the capitalist oppresion now! Unite the common peoples to one common Goal of peace and love and happiness...dropping the weapons of mass destruction to the wolves and helping to achieve harmony forever!"

"When we institute all the hate laws, we will ensure the true safety for the people by not putting up with this hatred of freedom."

"from each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs."

"That liberty is precious - so precious that it must be rationed."

"We must be ready to employ trickery, deceit, lawbreaking, withholding and concealing truth. We can and must write in the language which sows among the masses hate, revulsion, scorn, and the like toward those who disagree with us."

"PEACE-the elimination of all opposition to socialism."

"The press should be not only a collective propagandist and a collective agitator, but also a collective organizer of the masses."

"Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted."

"Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past."
