Originally, this was to be written by Kari Retzlaff, who I was desperately trying to get to write something for Marvel 2000. She wanted to do something with the original X-Men, but they were all tied up, so I offered to let her try writing Ultimate X-Men. It was all set up, but she had to back out at the last minute. The chance to start the X-Men over from ground zero appealed to me, so I jumped at the chance. |
