Cyborgs

Now that you know what a robot is, it's time you learned about cyborgs. In essence the cyborg is a cross betweeen a human and a machine.Usually most are designed with the intention of surpassing human frailties but at the same time retaining human cognitive and decision making intelligence. The first ever noted idea of a cyborg was the original Frankenstein. He was a human pieced together from multiple human body parts to create an overall better creature, at least that was the intention! To most Frankenstein is barely considered a cyborg because of being comprised of all human parts, but others suggest he was because these parts electrified in order to become reanimated. Whatever the case may be I feel he serves well as the founding father for this type of specie defying ideology.

Since their initial debut into our imaginations cyborgs have evolved very little. They seem to hold strong as a menacing villainous character. This is exemplified in the Terminator movie trilogy. These machines are shown to be very versatile and determined, far outlasting a would be human. While they are intially a threat to human kind, in the second and third sequels actor Arnold Schwarzenegger (the oringinal Terminator cyborg) actually helps to defend us feeble humans.

While the idea of these creations is somewhat novel, the basis of their existence has been entirely fictional thus far. So then one must ask, what of a practical usage for these figments of our imagination? For an answer proceed to our Future Of Robots and Cyborgs Page.
