Morbius
The Living Vampire

Michael Morbius is a Nobel Prize winning biochemist, who just happens to have a rare blood disease. In the search for a cure he turned himself into the living vampire. He originated in the Spider-Man comic books. His first introduction was in the early `70's.And continued throughout the '80's with appearances in varied Marvel comics.

In 1992 Marvel Comics gave Morbius his own book line.In it they updated his appearence, greatly improving his coolness factor. It retells;how Michael Morbius became the living vampire;deals with the loss of his beloved Martine and her rebirth;who his enemies(Vic Slaughter, The Basilisk, Simon Stroud, The Wraith, Blade, Lilith, Dr. Paine) and friends are(the Nine, the Midnight Sons, Dr. Strange, Jack Russell) and of course a battle or two with Spider-Man. Vic Slaughter the merc, is a particular fav character of mine,a scene stealer every page he is on. Vic Slaughter bio page.

The artwork is dynamic and the writing superb.Inparticular the first year with writer Len Kaminski, penciler Ron Wagner, inker Mike Witherby.
After Kaminski and Wagner left the writing and artistry declined a little. Until Lisa Trusiani's writing in the later issues gave new life to the series. The artistry of Fabio Laguna was very outstanding in the final two issues. Had these two been brought into Morbuis earlier, perhaps the title would have lasted longer than just 32 books. After reading the finale I was left wanting to read more from them.

Ultimate Morbius makes his first appearance. In June of 2006 Morbius is on the cover of Ultimate Spider-Man #95, drawn by Mark Bagley. He shows up on the last page offering to help Spider-Man.
Issue #96, uhhh kinda sucked. Morbius tries to save Ben Urich's life, Spidey fights first asks questions second. Morbius tells Spidey his father is Dracul. What the heck is up with that? Total letdown issue.
