- This old Wedico Mercedes 3850 Heavy Duty tractor (first serie with square windows) is a rugged truck with only a few plastic parts (even front mudguards are aluminium die-cast!): perhaps the closed cabin without the rear removable panel is not quiet useful but looks nice. .
- First step was spraying Acrylic semi-mat grey paint all the under- chassis parts: the two differentials, steering front axle with the servo rods, all suspension leafs, etc.
- This done, the chassis even received his painting, this time in brilliant black (two coats plus transparent finishing). Chromed plastic rims (right picture) doesn't look much realistic on this truck: I paint them with dark gray and trasparent semi-mat protective coating. Yes, I know, aluminium rims looks really nice but they are a little expensives..

- Heavy duty MB 3850 is a powerful machine working with high-loaded trailers: the model should have two differentials, a three speed gearbox and twin motors with coupler gearbox.Looking for the best traction, the battery is installed in the small ballast body wich is a better position than inside the cabin. 12V. wires are protected with self-retracting black rubber hoses.

- This first series of the Wedico Mercedes featured a working steering wheel: I had to remove it to give room for the twin motor and coupler box. The picture below shows the MB 3850 still with the old steering wheel and without the motors. Oil cooler and air filters are painted in black.

- Both the cabin and the two bodies are painted in metallic Mercedes blue (model was originally white), before assembling on the chassis, the cabin roof , sun visor and bull bar will coloured in white.Warning red stripes on the side spoilers are made with a special light-reflecting adhesive tape. TheBull bar support is concealed behind the bumper and the hitch is painted in white and red stripes to match the bumper colour scheme. Door handles are covered with self-retracting black hose, meanwhile mirrors supports are painted in semi-matt black.
- Speaking about the cab, the model came to me without dashboard: I used one from the Bruder Volvo cabin wich is perhaps a bit different from the original but not too bad. To have a better look inside the cab, I also made a black plastic cover for the two motors and wires. Electrical system, receiver and warning lights circuitry completed the cabin installation.
