Breaking and Entering

"Shouldn't we tell Willow we flew across country and are surprising her? Isn't it a little rude?" Anya asked nervously. "I mean, god, Xander."

Xander grinned, slipping his key into the door of his best friend's house. "Not like we haven't done it before."

"And how many times have we walked in on her and Graham having sex?"

Xander looked at her sadly.

"Right," she said softly. "Damn human bodies....if only we were all demons."

Xander smirked and opened the door. He and his wife walked in. Anya looked around at the darkness and all the heavy drapes. "Nice decorating," she commented dryly. "Looks like a vampire lives here."

Xander glared at her. "Not even funny, Anya."

Spike was quiet as he slipped through the second floor of the house. Thankfully, Willow was gone again today, having decided to treat herself to lunch and new items for the house. Spike was glad for her to go. She'd been redcorating the house and it made her happy.

His hunting instincts kicked in as his game face slid on. He searched the top floor to make sure no one was there to jump out at him. He knew they were downstairs, rifling through Willow's things. "Bloody robbers, thinking they are going to take something from Red's house. They obviously aren't very smart."

They smelled odd....it was a smell he could almost place, if he thought about it long enough. He dismissed it. All he knew was that the two in the house weren't Red, a Slayer, or his Sire. That's all that mattered to him.

Leaning over the banister of the balcony, he spotted a dark haired man looking through the papers on the table by the couch.

With his keen sense, he knew the other person was in the kitchen. He grinned evilly, and launched over the banister. He grabbed the guy, who yelped. He sunk his fangs into his neck.

Xander didn't know what hit him. One moment he was looking at some drawings someone had done of Willow. <Graham drew? I didn't know that,> he thought. The next moment, someone grabbed him from behind, pulling his back into the attacker's chest. A pair of fangs sunk into his neck.

"Oh god!" Xander cried. "A vampire! ANYA! WILLOW! HELP!" He struggled.

<Anya?> fought through Spike's bloodlust. He glanced up, to see Anya staring at him with her mouth open. "Anya?" he asked, his mouth smeared with her husband's blood .

"SPIKE! Let go of Xander! You will kill him!"

"Oh, god, Chubs!" Spike cried, pushing Xander away.

A momentarily stunned Xander spun around, fury in his eyes. "Where's Willow?"

"What?" Spike asked, rubbing his face. His human mask came back on. "Red? She's gone."

"GONE? YOU BASTARD!!" He snatched the stake out of Anya's hand, the one she always kept in her purse. "I'm so going to enjoy dusting you."

Spike's eyes widened at the anger in Xander's voice. "No, wait, you don't understand! I didn't..."

Xander launched at him, knocking the growling vampire to the ground. They struggled, Spike obviously being stronger. Xander scrambled up, Spike joining him.

"Chubs, I don't want to fight, I just want to..."

"What, kill me, like you killed Willow? It's what you promised, right? Obviously, you have no chip....Damn, Buffy should have done this ten years ago." He executed a swift kick right to Spike's groin.

Spike doubled over in pain, his nerves screaming in protest. His mind fought with his demon, as the demon was yelling, "KILL HIM!" over and over.

Xander slammed into Spike, knocking him over. He kneeled over the vampire, grabbing his hair and slamming his head into the floor.

Spike looked up at him dazed. He saw two Xanders, both holding a stake up, ready for the plunge. His final thoughts were, <Oh, god, I'm going to die, and I never told Willow I love her.> Xander held the stake high, savouring the moment. <I'm going to kill William the Bloody. 'Bout damn time someone did it. Willow, this is for you. I hope you are happy wherever you are.>

He was so lost in his thoughts, he never heard the front door open or the gasp. He never saw the red figure fly at him.
