Chir sighs and gets nervous as you ask about her. She pets her green fire-lizard Xiptra and the act seems to calm her greatly. She takes a deep breath and starts into her story. "I was born in the area of Ista Hold. I'm a only child if you don't count my half sister Tiff Prisim. We share the same father and that only part of our crazy lifes. Though I'm an only child I sometimes call Tiff's half brother, X'tro bronze Rezoth's rider, formaly known as Xantro of Ruatha, brother. My father was a glass maker and my mother a semstris and small time healer." "Durring my early turns, I would go watch my father work and at night my mother taught me to sew and little bits about healing. As far back as I can remember I've known how to so." "The only thing I've probably known longer, is my half sister and her half brother," Chir took a sip of her klah before continueing her her serious voice, "You see, Tiff lived with her mother, X'tro, and X'tro's father in Ruatha and every winter and summer either I'd come to visit them or they'd come to visit me. In so being they were my first friends." "As I grew older I met lots of people but not many took a liking to me or even became my friends," she sighed at this. "How could they not like you?" you ask the little girl, confused at how anybody could not like such a polite girl. "I'm not quite sure," she tells you, her brow furrowing up showing that she was now always as happy as she is talking to people, "I think it's because I've a tendency to seem happy at all times... Then it could also be the fact that I can sound kind yet comanding at the same time. That makes some people so shardin' mad at times that it scares me!" You nodded with some understanding now and wave her to go on. "Well there's not much to tell about that. Durring those times I did go down to the shores and talk to the dolphins. They seemed to really like me and for a small time they called me their dophineer. They taught me how to swim almost as fast as they theirselfs could," she smiled as she finished talking aobut the dolphins. "Then about a few turns ago, while Tiff and X'tro were visiting me in Ista we reseaved heart breaking news," she weavered here for a moment as two tears fell down her face causing you for the first time to see that Chir's face was dusted with some dust from cleaning things in her weyr, "Tiff's mother and X'tro's father were killed in a rock slide. Luckly my father desided upon hearing this to take them in. At the time he'd mummbled something about not wanting them to be with Tiff's grandparents and I'm guessing that was said with good reason." "So we all lived togeather for three turns in Ista," Chir continued not wishing to linger on the subject of death, "That is until over a turn ago two weeks after Tiff impressed her fire lizards. Tiff for turns had been learning the ways of the Harpers and had even become an apprentace outside of the Harper Hall. Two weeks after she impress her fire lizards she was notified that she'd earned her journeywoman's knots and was going to be posted at Talor Cliff Weyr." Chir now look down shyly as she continued, "I was so used to living around my big sister I got up enough nerve to ask my father if X'tro and I could go with her to live in the Weyr too. At the time Pop told us he'd have to think about it.... but X'tro and I dessided to pack for going to the weyr just in case." "A few days later a green dragon and a brown dragon came to collect Tiff. Some how Tiff figured out that we were to go to even before my Father looked for X'tro and myself to tell us to pack up. We soon found out why we were told on such little notice. It seems that the green dragon who convayed us sensed something in one of us that would make a great dragon rider. Tiff and I found this out without telling X'tro and helped find out that the green had been sensing him." "Now this being, the Weyrwoman Falora started to consider that I might not want to be at the Weyr and or wouldn't be much help to the Weyr sense I was only 11 turns old. This caused me to be determined not to leave the weyr and help out. I quickly found my nitch as I started helping to sew up cloths and riding gear. Then came the day of our first fall in a weyr. I was helping with the other weyrlings, canidates and other weyr dewlers by carring and loading bags of firestones for the dragons fighting." "It was at this time that I spotted the weyr healer with is hands full trying to help a green who had been seriously scorched and her rider was unconouse...." she trails off at this time and looks at you as if she'd done something wrong. You look back at Chir trying to incourage her to continue. She takes a deep swig of her klah before continuing again. "This was also the day that I found I could hear dragons. This green was crying for her rider both vocaly and in my head. I started to hear her think that her rider was dead. By the first shell, that scared me and I ran over to sooth the dragon. At first the healer totaly denied my help, saying I was too young and small to help a healer. I ignored him at this and calmed the dragon who was surprised that I could hear her. I told her that her rider was a live just sleeping deeper than usual and the healer would fix her up." "This happend many more times that day and soon the healer was asking me to help him," she smiled, "I made many friends that day and now the Weyr Healer is apprentacing me. I'm even stiching up wounds of both dragons and riders on days of thread fall." "I'm not too goo at telling stories but if you'd like to see how I was searched Tiff and I wrote what happend the day of it. Here's the wherhides if you'd like to read it." "Well, that about all I can tell ya' about my life. As for my personality," she seemed to think a bit about this, chosing her words carefuly, "As you can tell, I'm shy and kind of heart yet at the same time can be commanding. I'm not usualy very vocial about anything but when I do voice my oppion I'm usually very determined about it... This sometimes causes me more trouble than it's worth. I'm hard to get angery though it's not imposible." "I can't really think of much else to tell ya' about me," she says as if she feels she's letting you down. "Well, now sence I've run out of things to tell ya' about me would you like to hear about my fire lizards, Mekoth, or do you have to get going?" |
