The respiratory system removes carbon dioxide waste from the body and inhales oxygen. The respiratory system includes the nose, trachea, and lungs. After you breath in, air enters your nose or mouth and goes through a tube called the trachea. The tranchea branches down into two bronchial tubes, or primary bronchi, which go into the lungs. The bronchi branch off into even smaller branch, or bronchioles. The bronchioles ends up in the alveoli, or air sacs. The oxygen is squeezed through a series of air sac and blood vessels and into the bloodstream. At the same time, the waste carbon dioxide from the body is exhaled from the body. |
