TYLER'S TERRORS: DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR |
The FedCom Civil War produced a lot of broken men and machines. Hopes and dreams were also shattered on the many battlefields that dotted the Inner Sphere during this time. Then Captain Jonathon Tyler served in the AFFS and saw a lot of action while on New Avalon. While not a native to the capital world of the Federated Suns, Captain Tyler was ashamed to see the dream of peace and unity die on the plains surrounding Avalon City.
Tyler quickly started going against orders just to try and help civilians get out of the line of fire between Loyalist and Allied forces. This quickly gained him a reputation amongst his superiors as a person who’d rather not follow orders then to go out and kill the enemy. But men and women from both sides of the fight saw what he was doing and started to flock around him.
An unofficial lance of mechwarriors and their machines soon gained the name Tyler’s Men as they would break rank and guard civilian relief transports or put themselves between anyone and innocent civilians. This lance soon grew to a company after one daring rescue of a woman trapped in a collapsing government building turned out to be a CFO for Federated Boeing. Word spread of the heroics of his men, but it soon became too much of a morale problem for the overall unit to have one of its members breaking rank.
Captain Tyler was quickly brought up on charges of desertion of duty and theft of equipment. He quickly took matters into his own hands and played up to the charges that his superiors had forced upon him. He left the AFFS with his ShadowHawk-5D and took those of like minded ambitions with him, quickly renaming his informal group into the formal mercenary command, Tyler’s Terrors.
The unit still uses a Davion paint scheme based off the Davion Light Guards parade colors. All mechs have the Terrors logo painted on their upper right torso, a serpent on the Davion sunburst holding the Davion sword in its claws. All units also have a black band painted around their upper left arm, this symbolizes the mourning for the loss of honor that occurred during the FedCom Civil War.

OFFICERS
Colonel Jonathon Tyler is a rigid man rarely showing any emotion, rather he only shows that he is a man of discipline and military efficiency. He left the AFFS after coming to a “disagreement” as to the role of warriors should be in the Federated Suns. Should they be kills first or be there to defend the population? His goal is to serve people honorably, to defend them against those that would do harm and above all else, be the professional warrior Davion men should be.
Leftenant Colonel Arturo Demaray is second in command of Tyler’s Terrors. A former drill sergeant at the NAIS on New Avalon, Demaray has an abrasive personality. But this has also helped Major Tyler keep a military efficiency around his unit. Demaray also acts as the drill sergeant for the command. Major Tyler says, “Why change what he’s good at?”
Tech Sergeant Mitchell Morgove is the top technician in Tyler’s Terrors. The middle aged man is a closet bigot but doesn’t hide it well. If it’s not from the Federated Suns it’s not worth looking at. Tyler is the only man who can convince him otherwise. Morgove has also set up the large amount of techs in this command into a paramilitary force that he’s dubbed Tyler’s Technicians. Currently they are training in their spare time to help repulse boarding actions against their transport, the Dictator Class Dropship, Jabberwocky.

TACTICS
The Terrors uses a widely varying tactical playbook. A vast majority of the Terrors uses fast strike tactics, swarming the field and slowly stripping away the armor of the enemy. Col. Tyler has often been heard saying, “The best offense is making sure the enemy can never hurt you.” This is why the Terrors are largely a very fast unit. Very few lances in the Terrors move slowly, and these units are used rarely, often only in assault style missions.

SUPPORT
Tyler’s Terrors has a large technician support unit, unofficially dubbed Tylers’ Technicians. This large group of men and women make sure every unit is more then spotless for inspection by Tyler himself, a man who prides himself on efficiency and military rigor. The unit is also fully transportable by its new Dictator Dropship, Jabberwocky, the Mule Class Dropship Osedax, the Intruder Class Dropship Jaculus, and the Tramp Class Jumpship Chupacabra

Tyler's Terrors
Reinforced Battalion/Veteran/Regular
CO: Col. Jonathon Tyler
XO: Leftenant Col. Arturo Demaray
Not having an overall organizational pattern, Tyler’s Terrors deploys units in 4 to 6 ‘Mech groups depending on the situation at hand. Most units in the Terrors are Light and Medium Battlemechs, though in the past year many Star League era Heavy and Assault class Battlemechs and Tanks have started to pepper the ranks. The Lances of Battlemechs vary widely in operational abilities depending on the whim of Col. Tyler. From ultra light scout lances all the way up to King Crab units built to be a blockbusting unit.
The Black Terrors
Wing(28 Fighters) /Elite/Regular
CAG: Leftenant Rudolph Maulden
ACAG: Leftenant Sam Sauers
Acting very different from the rest of the Terrors, a vast majority of the Black Terrors are native from Galax, Kathil and New Syrtis. The attitude of most of the Black Terrors could be described as desperate to prove themselves the best in the air and in space. While practically speaking they have amazing skills, they have little practical experience dog-fighting, often the opposition flees the Black Terrors rather then stay around duking it out as the Terrors Dropships close in for the kill. Their paint scheme also differs from the standard Terrors paintjob, the nose of the fighters are painted sky blue that gradually fades to black along the rear wing tips. Kills are marked as longswords along the wings.

Tyler’s Technicians (unofficial)
Battalion/Ultra Green (infantry) Elite (Technical skill)/Fanatical
TS: Tech Sergeant Mitchell Morgove
Foreign Technology Officer: Dr. Anton Koniev
An official grouping of men and women, The Technicians are normally just the hard working people in Tyler’s command that keep their machines up and running at above the specs. But with the acquiring of a dropship, Sergeant Morgove decided to start training the techs how to defend their new home. Dr. Anton Koniev is a Capellan defector that Major Tyler was happy to add to his roster. Dr. Koniev is knowledgeable about most Capellan weapon systems, having designed many himself. Lately every Tech in the Terrors have been outfitted with a Terrors designed PA(L) suit named the Aswang. These suits are designed to help in battlefield recovery operations as well as space borne repair and construction.
The Fleet
9 Dropships, 2 Jumpships /Veteran/Fanatical
Ranking Dropship Officer: Captain Catherine Burzynski, TTS Jabberwocky
Ranking Jumpship Officer: Captain Julie Nicholes, TTS El Chupacabra
Growing in leaps and bounds as the Terrors grows, the vast majority of the Fleet is made up of cargo Dropships such as Mules. One of them has been converted to a personnel carrier to allow the civilian population of the Terrors to travel with the mercenary group. The Assault Dropships Jabberwocky, Jaculus and Cerberus provide fire support and have even been know to attack small Word of Blake Frigates.

RULES
Currently Major Tyler is training his men day and night to be able to respond quickly to changes in the battlefield environment. This is reflected as a bonus of 1 to initiative when outnumbered.
Major Tyler is also using his Shadow Lance filled with Stealth Armor equipped mechs to its highest ability. Often using them to mimic a friendly unit to his opponent, the Shadow Lance casts doubt and chaos amongst hostile forces. This is reflected as a penalty of 1 to initiative to the OpFor when Stealth Armor is deployed on the field by the Terrors.
With units that often lack any large amount of firepower, Tyler must use his mechs bodies as weapons as well. He is currently training the men and women of his command at using their mechs fists and feet as an equalizer. This is reflected as a bonus of 1 to hit with melee attacks as well as a bonus of 1 to the damage inflicted by melee attacks.
