Chapter Two Kevin arrived shortly before three. He knocked softly on the door before entering the office. Yvonne looked up from the papers in front of her and smiled before standing and extending her hand to him. "Kevin?" She asked and he nodded. "I'm Yvonne, it's nice to meet you, please sit down." She said gesturing to a chair. "Nice to meet you too." He replied. "Have you talked to Tiffany?" Kevin was trying to control his voice, he couldn't believe what an angel she was. "She called yesterday. She said you want a video put together but she didn't give me very many details." "Well my group is preparing to release a greatest hits album and I would like to give each of them a movie of our videos and some private clips of us from home movies." He reached down at his feet and picked up a large black duffel bag. "I have everything here." He said opening the bag to reveal several tapes. "Well, I should get started." Yvonne was shocked by the amount of tapes he had with him. "Can you stay and go over some of this with me?" "I would prefer that actually. Tiff offered me a spare room for a couple of nights so that we can get this done." He was starting to have second thoughts about the arrangement though. He never expected to be attracted to Tiffany's new assistant. Yvonne was shocked that Tiffany hadn't told her about this arrangement, but blew it off. This was an extremely attractive man, but the chances of her being in any danger of an "awkward" situation were slim. Besides, she rationalized, if he was that kind of guy then Tiffany wouldn't have offered to let him stay. Yvonne started up the editing equipment while Kevin put his things into an upstairs bedroom. They worked late into the night laughing at the home movies. The attraction between the two of them had grown considerably in the hours they spent together. "I think we should call it a night." Kevin said, yawning, around two am. "Sounds good to me." Yvonne replied stretching. They shut everything down and said good night. Both of them aware of the tension between them. Yvonne was up early the next morning. She hadn't slept well the night before and she decided, around six, to stop trying. Kevin was already up when she entered the main house, and they exchanged tired glances. The coffee was already brewed and she gratefully poured herself a cup. "So how long have you worked for Tiffany?" Kevin asked after she sat. "Almost two months now." Yvonne replied. "It's been great so far. I've learned a lot." "Tiffany is a great person. Working for her is probably easy." "It's fairly laid back, but she is an extreme perfectionist. That takes some getting used to." "Yeah it probably would." Kevin laughed. "Did you grow up around here?" He asked changing the subject. "No, actually I grew up in the central valley. Small town, nothing happening there. I was surfing the net one day, saw the ad for this job and took a shot." "Your parents must be proud." "Yeah, they would be." Yvonne sighed standing suddenly. "Well let's get to work." Kevin noticed how she had answered his question, but it was obvious she didn't want to talk about it any further. He promised himself he would ask her about it again later. They worked again all day, straight through lunch. By the time dinner came around they were both extremely hungry. The videos were almost done and Kevin suggested they go out to eat, to celebrate all their hard work. |
