From December 26 to 31, you could be one of 40 members of NFTY-NELR to attend Sicha 5759. This winter camp will be a conversational Hebrew retreat. NFTY-NELR and the Reform educators of Greater Toronto have joined to create this unique immersion-style event. In addition to daily programs which will include all 40 participants, you will spend time learning Hebrew with a small sicha (conversation) group. These groups will be divided based on each participant's knowledge of reading, understanding and speaking Hebrew. Since the sicha groups will be streamed, last year's participants will have the opportunity to be challenged further. The afternoon's programming will be diverse. The Kesher L'teva (connect to nature) program will take advantage of the center's recreational activities while expanding your Hebrew vocabulary. During each day's Limud (study session), Rabbi's and other professionals will lead Israel-related study sessions. Topics will vary from "Jerusalem through Jewish texts" to "Reform Judaism in Israel." You will also have the opportunity to choose chugim - activities from a choice of special-interest groups. Group leaders will be qualified in teaching conversational Hebrew. The event will be chaperoned by NFTY-NELR advisors.
