You listen at the window.

Susie listens

You consider that you may not have time to find a way into the hut. Crouching under the tiny window, you hold your breath to hear what's being said. You are only able to hear bits and pieces.

". . . Xu Huang when you arrive . . ."

". . . must see Chiu first . . ."

". . . taken adequate precautions?"

You hear Jean-Claude laugh, and then in a louder voice, you hear him say, "We will expect you soon." You realize his voice has grown louder because he is moving toward the door. You rush away from the hut and appear to be stretching your legs and looking at the village when Jean-Claude emerges. He only looks at you briefly before he reboards the train. You hear the long whistle announcing the train's departure and reboard as well.

Jean-Claude does not get off the train again until you reach Shanghai. At the train station, he hails a taxi cab. You follow him as he goes to the Hilton and checks in. You follow him inconspicuously as he goes to his room. He carries his large briefcase inside and shuts the door. You look around the hall to see if you're alone, drop to your knees in front of the door, and press something that looks like a stethescope against it. You hear water running, the sounds of someone getting dressed, and finally footsteps toward the door. Quickly ducking around a corner, you watch as Jean-Claude, washed, in fresh clothes, and still with his briefcase, strides to the elevator and presses the "down" button.

Now you must make a quick decision! Will you search Jean-Claude's hotel room while he's gone, or follow Jean-Claude?
