Overview:

After the technical advances made using the Gray Death memory core, Mechs have become more and more expensive because of the new equipment. Using stockpiled older technology, a new line of inexpensive Mechs have immerged to accomodate the large demand for low cost BattleMechs. Using proven weapon systems, the Slugger was created as a low cost heavy Mech for mercenaries that don't have the C-Bills to afford the cutting edge in BattleMech technology.

Capabilities:

The designers designed this Mech for punch and protection. A Vox 280 engine allows this Mech to keep up with Mechs of its size. This speed is combined with maximum possible armor protection, which allows the Slugger to keep in the fight much longer than most Mechs of its size. Aside from the astonding armor protection, a PPC and Large Laser can be used at long ranges to weaken opponents. Then at close ranges four Medium Lasers and a Small Laser can be used for a bit of extra offensive punch.

Deployment:

The Slugger has seen action against the clans in many mercenary units stationed along the clan borders. Being one of the cheaper Mechs in the market, it has been popular with many struggling mercenary units because of the low maintance cost. It is also popular with some units that need the extra tonnage to form a defensive line with as small a cost as possible. This Mech is usually in a lance with other heavies that provide long range fire support, while a lighter Mech provides scouting for the rest of the lance.
