A couple new photos in the galleries. I added the Giant Centipede picture and an alternate goblin to the main/goblin gallery. I also added a picture of my Metal Elemental to the Elementalist gallery

I got inspiration for the Centipede painting from: http://w1.879.telia.com/~u87900337/english.html

New photo added to the Gallery. Shrooms! Now if I could just get the rules for the unit to work. Well, at least I've got some figures to use now...

Also, added another new unit: Giant Cenipede. I will have photos of the figure soon.

Feb 19, 2001

New photos added to the Galleries. There are pictures of a Six Way Battle, Game Markers, a new Elementalist, Ice Elemental, and a Swamp Terror.

Mad a few minor changes to the Shooms unit entry. (Changed madcap rules). These are still being worked on, so feedback is welcome.

Coming soon I will have some more photos, including some Shrooms to go with my custom units, another Swamp Terror (actual Crucible model), a Bat Rider, and more. I will probably split off the Goblin gallery into a separate page from the gallery home page finally. The Petra Goblin faction has bee updated by Crazy Achmed, so expect to see that updated in the near future.

Also, since convention season is approaching, several announcements...

I will be at Cold Wars and would be interested in a pick-up game or two, if anyone is interested in playing Crucible.

I plan on being at both CapCon and Origins. I am trying to find out how much interest there is in having a Crucible event or two. Let me know if you are interested, and what sort of a game you would like. (Bring and battle, a tournament, a big battle, etc.) Email the Goblin King at goblinking@evilnet.net

Painting contest votes are counted! Thanks to everyone who voted!

My thoughts on the painting contest: We got a GREAT bunch of submissions. I think the work was supurb. The voting reflected this. First place in the Painting Only catagory was unanimous, but beyond that it was a close race between a good half of the entries! In the Modelling/Painting catagory every entry scored points, and it was a close vote.

I apologise about the prizes, but with all that's happened, I don't think Partha will be coming through with them. Sorry.

Next up is a little off-site goblin madness. Check out the goblin army I painted at Condottieri Painting. It's in the Feb 2001 gallery.

Lastly, although I don't normally do endorsements like this, my big order of Crucible figures came in this week, and I just thought I'd give The War Store a little plug as a bit o' thanks. Neal's a cool guy (tracked down my Mushroom Men at cut price!), and I was very happy with the order.

All is quiet. Added my little welcome message to the front page. Yes, I realize it's not a Crucible figure... I'm branching out... I'm expanding my horizons... I'm still waiting on my Crucible order in the mail...

Feb 7, 2001

Added an "Elementalist" to the Elementalist gallery, and some Trolls to the Goblin gallery.

Haven't worked on the swamp in a couple days, other than painting the trees brown. I'm catching up on some painting (for customers), so have to take a little time away from my own projects.

Feb 6, 2001

A couple more Elementals in the Gallery. I will probably add some more in the near future, including the "smoke screen" form of the smoke elemental, and the mud and magma trails.

The Final Photos for the Painting Contest are up. Emails are going out to the judges as we speak. Judging will be done by some of the Partha art, sculpting, and painting team, as well as myself, and one or two other 'special guests'.

Yet another swamp update.

Started the Elementalist Gallery with a few photos. More coming soon.

I'll be gone for a couple of days, so probably no updates until at least Monday. I'll have the final painted images all up by then, though.

Another update to the Swamp terrain.

Contest deadline is technically past, but you have not turned in a final image yet, get it to me over the weekend and I'll see if I can convince the Goblin King to let it slide...

It's getting late over here. Get those contest entries in!

Added the next update to the Swamp terrain boards page. I really feel like I need to come up with a cool name for the swamp. I'll have to think about that. Any suggestions?

Dropped by the store today, got me a batrider. Nice figure, glad I picked it up. At first the sticker-shock made me hesitate, but when I opened it up in the car, I was pleased to see that the detail was great, it fit together perfectly without even having to file or fill anything, and it was larger than I had imagined.

News from FASA, Partha, and Wizkids has not been exactly pouring forth. The last of the Partha stock is being distributed by FASA, and things look somewhat depressing.

But Hall of the Goblin King still moves forward!

The Painting Contest is just about up. The entries so far are GREAT! I mean really phenomenal! Everybody else, remember that finished images are due by the end of the day tomorrow!

Just added is the King's latest construction project: Swamp terrain boards. Every Goblin has to have a home to relax and drown himself in. This Goblin is no exception. See how work progresses day - by - day.

Elsewhere on the net, the Witches of Far Haven have set up a web site at: http://www.angelfire.com/wi2/farhaven/fhhome.html and I am sure they will be getting down to all that witchie stuff soon... baking cookies and the likes, not doubt! Check it out! Dan is the keeper of the Crucible FAQ, has some record sheets, and further news.

Jan 25, 2001

Well, with all the buzz on the net, you may have heard. FASA is going out of business. The announcement is at their site http://www.fasa.com

As the Goblin King understands it, most of Ral Partha will go to Wizkids, the makers of Mage Knight. While I am no huge fan of Mage Knight, Wizkids are considered to be a strong company both in management and financially, due to the success of their game. We all hope for the best for Ral Partha.

The fate of Crucible is still to be determined. I will be sure to post any announcements.

As far as the fan support, many of us have not given up on the game. We hope to see it continue to be professionally produced, but in the mean time, we will continue to playtest new, original units, convert figures, write scenarios, and promote the game.

To this end, we will have a slew of new material up soon! We have Yleecoyote's new entire Voodoo based goblin faction list! More pictures coming to the gallery! A "how to" on making lovely, swampy, modular terrain boards! Building "low impact" counters! And of course, the painting contest is still on!

The painting contest is still continuing on. Please, send those finished entries in! The deadline is still January 31. Hopefully voting will continue as planned, but I will wait and see if the Partha people need a little extra time. The prizes are up in the air, and I don't really feel right bugging John about it with everything else that's going on. As with everything else, I will keep you posted. We will have a contest, we will have some great pictures, and in the end, we'll figure out some awards!

Elsewhere on the web, The Dwarven Enclave opens up. Visit it at: http://www.phoenix.org/jtcoleman/Crucible.html

Also in the works: Hall of the Goblin King gets remodeled, and a Crucible game at the TWA Game Fest in February. Dan from the Crucible list is also almost ready to unveil his new Crucible site. Stay tuned!
