    My first duty station as a member of the United States Air Force is Hawaii. I arrived here January 4th, 1999. I have been stationed in paradise. Nice and warm everyday. Anyplace warm all year is paradise to me. Within this webpage contains pictures and information about Hawaii.

 

Facts about Hawaii

    Hawaii became the 50th state on August 21, 1959. As most people know, the capital is Honolulu. The state nickname is the Aloha State. The major source of income is tourism. Tourism brings about $11.6 billion per year in rceipts, placing the visitor industry ahead of sugar, pineapple and all other. Hawaii rank among the top in the U.S. for hotel occupancy.

State Motto:

Attibuted to King Kamehameha III on July 31, 1843.

State Seal:
    The seal has a figure of KamehamehaI on the night and the Goddess of Liberty o the left, bearing a Hawaiian flag. A Phoenix in the garden of taro, banana, and maidenhair fern appears below the shield. It is inscribed with the motto and dated 1959.

Flag:

    The flag contains Great Britain's Union Jack in the upper left corner. The 8 red, white, and blue strips represent th eight major Hawaiian Islands.

Size:

    Hawaii is ranked 47th in size. It is larger than Rhode island, Connecticut, a Delaware. It has 8 main islands comrising 99% of the total land area of 6,425 square miles.
